At our February meeting, Catherine Fleming will tell us about the extraordinary life of Sr. Kate McCarthy, a Franciscan nun from Cork, who nursed wounded soldiers in France during World War 1 and helped the Resistance during World War II. She helped Allied airmen to escape, and was eventually arrested by the Gestapo and imprisoned. Her death sentence was not carried out, but she ended up in Ravensbruck Concentration Camp for the rest of the war, and survived.

All welcome!
