My Town, My Heritage – Photography Exhibition.
Official opening of photo exhibition and prizegiving.
All are welcome. Refreshments available.
The exhibition will be launched by Martin Miley, Mayor of Kildare.
On the night we will also officially launch our reprinted Castledermot Heritage Guide leaflet and our new online ‘Sketchfab’ account where 3D models of some of the towns treasures can be viewed. Both of these projects were sponsored by a Kildare County Council Community Heritage Grant.
Winners of Senior Category:
1st Katie Tyrrell ‘Steam Power’
First prize is a camera sponsored by Castledermot Local History Group and a €100 voucher from Sam McCauley Chemists.
2nd Craig Walsh ‘Rare Old Times’
Second prize is a €25 voucher from Fine Framers, Carlow.
3rd James Mahon ‘Welcome In’
Third prize is a copy of ‘Ireland’s Ancient East: A Guide to its Historic Treasures’ (Collins Press) autographed and donated by the author Neil Jackman of Abarta Heritage.
Winners of Junior Category:
1st Juno Douglas (age 11) ‘High Cross’
First prize is a camera sponsored by Castledermot Local History Group and a €50 voucher from Sam McCauley Chemists.
2nd Tom Weadick (age 12) ‘Bluebell Hill, Mullaghreelan’
Second prize is a €20 Easons voucher.
3rd Charlie Douglas (age 10) ‘St Laurence O’Toole Monument’
Third prize is a copy of ‘Ancient Ireland Colouring Book: From Newgrange to the Vikings’ by Conor McHale and a €10 Easons voucher.
