Jim Kavanagh, horse trainer, will be the next speaker at the Curragh Local History Group Meeting on the 26 February 2019. Jim will cover two topics; the Queens Room at the Curragh Racecourse; and Orby, the first Irish racehorse to win the Epsom Derby in 1907, he also went on to win the Irish Darby of the same year.

The Queen’s Room was the last part of the stand to be built in 1853. It has been dismantled brick by brick and painstakingly incorporated into the new facility due to open this year.

All welcome!
