RIA: Archaeology Research Grants 2014

The Academy Committee for Archaeology is the representative body of the main institutions involved in archaeology in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The primary mission of the committee is to promote and support study and research in Irish archaeology primarily through its role in adjudicating on applications for Government-funded research excavation grants and for Academy archaeological research grants. In pursuit of its mission, the committee is involved in awarding the following grants and awards:

Archaeology Research Grants 2014

Applications are invited for grants for research in Irish archaeology, excluding excavation, in 2014.

It is a condition of the grants that two copies of a brief report on the work done and the manner in which the funds were expended shall be submitted to the Academy on or before Friday, 4 December 2014. Grants of more than €2,000 will not be considered. It must also be noted that assistance cannot be given to research for an academic degree.

The deadline for the receipt of completed applications is Friday 30th May 2014

RADIOCARBON DATES OFFER 2014

The Royal Irish Academy in association with Queen’s University Belfast offers ten radiocarbon dates per annum to be used for the purposes of archaeological research in Ireland. The offer is intended to assist research projects only and is not open to any that are developer funded or people pursing an academic degree.

Priority will be given to proposals that address critical research issues.
