DESCRIPTION:Celbridge Historical Society\n\n"The origins of Christmas: a fe
 stive journey through Art\, Literature\, Story and Song"  - A talk by Pro
 fessor Salvador Ryan\, whose most recent book 'Christmas and the Irish: a 
 miscellany' (Wordwell Press) was published at the end of November. It foll
 ows the success of his three earlier volumes on Death\, Marriage and Birth
  and the Irish (2016-2021). In each of these\, some seventy contributors d
 elve into history\, folklore and their own experiences\, in a succession o
 f short tales\, some serious\, some humorous.\n\nNote:  Copies of Profess
 or Ryan's recent book 'Christmas and the Irish\, a miscellany'\, will be 
 available.\n\nDoors open at 7.30\, talk at 7.45\, followed by festive refr
 eshments - tea\, coffee\, mincepies and chat.\nEveryone is welcome.\n\nWe 
 thank the staff of Celbridge Library for all their assistance with this ev
 ent.\n\nSalvador Ryan is Professor of Ecclesiastical History\, St Patrick
 ’s Pontifical University\, Maynooth where he writes on religious and cul
 tural history from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century. Other publish
