Agricultural Activity
• The Cromwellian Civil Survey (1654-1656) taken to record land area and ownership so that they could redistribute it to creditors and soldiers, recorded two corn mills and two malt houses in Maynooth
• Maynooth was granted a weekly market and an Annual Fair in 1678
• Maynooth was an important centre for agricultural activity right up to the early 2000s with an operating Mill and Mart
• The 1837 Map noted a Mill even though Kavanagh’s Mill was only operating since the 1860s. It continued in operation until 2001
• The Doyle auctioneers family opened Maynooth Livestock Mart in 1959 and it ceased operating in 2002
