Maynooth GAA was founded in 1887 and has an interesting history
Maynooth Town Football Club was formed in 1969 and merged with the Ballygoran United Club in 1972
Cricket has also a history in Maynooth since the 1880s
St. Mary’s Band dates back to 1796. The current band dates from 1931
Set dancing was also popular often taking place outdoors near Bond Bridge
Snooker and Billiards were also played with tables in the CYMS Hall
Maynooth ICA was formed in 1952
Maynooth Senior Citizens formed in 1965 ( marked 60 years last year)
Maynooth Scouts in 1975 (marked 50 years last year)
The “Maynooth Newsletter” was started in 1975 on a voluntary basis as a community newsletter. It has been produced by the Maynooth Community Employment Scheme since 1985 (marked 40 years last year).
