Dictionary of Irish Biography – A Walkthrough Of Kildare’s Famous Figures

Royal Irish Academy’s Dictionary of Irish Biography (DIB) is a hugely important national and international resource for scholars of Irish society, history, and culture. The DIB has a digital corpus of nearly 11,000 biographical entries, which were moved in March 2021 to a new purpose-built ‘open access’ website, making the entire corpus freely available to all users at the following address: www.dib.ie

To highlight and celebrate this important new resource, Kildare Federation of Local History Groups have teamed up with Kildare Library Services and the Kildare Decade of Commemorations Committee to present an online lecture by Turlough O’Riordan, showcasing County Kildare figures who feature in the Dictionary of Irish Biography.

Turlough O’Riordan is digital and online editor of the Dictionary of Irish Biography.

This online lecture will take place on:
Tuesday 1st June 2021 from 19:30 – 20:30
This event is free but registration is required. See the details below.

Registration is through eventbrite. To register go to the following eventbrite page:
