Brigid 1500 Talks

The County Kildare Federation of Local History Groups last year organised a series of talks in the run up to the Brigid 1500 celebrations, an initiative to mark the 1500 anniversary in 2024 of St Brigid’s death in AD 524.

The talks commenced during Heritage Week 2023 and continued each month until January 2024 at Kilcullen Heritage Centre. The talks were recorded and are now available to watch. Follow the link below for further information or to watch the recordings.

Co. Kildare Federation of Local History Groups

The Federation is a voluntary body that was formed in 1999 in order to exchange ideas, share information, and raise awareness of County Kildare’s local history groups and their activities. More information on the federation can be found in the About KFLHG section.

The News section contains information on history conferences, seminars, exhibitions, festivals, lectures, book launches, call outs for grants, award competitions, and bursaries relevant to the heritage, history, and archaeology of Co. Kildare.

The Local History Diary is provided for member groups/societies to post information about their talks and events throughout the year.

The website also includes a section on each member group arranged by area. These sections have details of the individual groups, their contact details, publications, and in some cases a brief local history of the location is provided. Select an area from the links below or throughout the website from the menu in the footer of each page.
