Listening to the Voices of Local History and Community Heritage

Listening to the Voices of Local History and Community Heritage: June 2024 Meet Ups

The Oral History Network of Ireland is delighted to be hosting a series of regional meet ups in the week 19-25 June to bring together history enthusiasts, oral historians, and any interested members of the local community, both OHNI members and non-members.

The meet ups will be an opportunity to network in your local area and hear more about the oral history projects near you. We’d also love to hear from you about how we can promote and support oral histories across Ireland, whether you’re already working in oral history or interested in getting started on a project, and so a portion of the event will include a feedback session.

One attendee from each meet up will also be entered into a free raffle to win their choice of an OPW Heritage Card, OHNI online training workshop, or a year’s membership to OHNI!

Events close to Co. Kildare will take place at the following locations :

EPIC: The Irish Emigration Museum, Dublin City: 2pm – 4pm, Monday 24 June
Woodford Dolmen Hotel, Carlow Town, Leinster: 10am – 12pm, Tuesday 25 June

Registration is now open, and attendance is free for all. Please do get in touch with droberts@oralhistorynetworkireland.ie if you have any questions about the events or to enquire about additional support you may require.

The sessions will also include an opportunity to hear clips from oral history projects local to each meet up. If you would like to submit a 30-60 second clip from a collection you are aware of, or involved in, please do so via the registration form.

OHNI would like to thank the Heritage Council for its generous support of these events.
