A look back at the key people and events in the 850 years since the Fitzgeralds were granted the lands at Maynooth in 1176 by Strongbow, with a focus on the development of Maynooth. The talk mentioned the facts that in the late medieval period, Maynooth was the political capital of Ireland and that Maynooth continues to be the best surviving example of an Irish planned landlord town. The talk was well attended.
