Cill Dara Historical Society is the local group for Kildare Town, or Cill Dara, in Irish, which is one of the most ancient towns in Ireland having its origins in the sixth century monastic settlement of St Brigid. Prior to this, the location was likely a ritual site dedicated to the per-Christian Goddess Brigid.
