The Great Farm Lockout of 1919 and its effect in South Kildare
By Martin Brady (Digital Archivist)

ADMISSION FREE ON THE NIGHT!

Martin’s work will look at the often forgotten but intense disputed between farmers and their employees during the 1919 farm lockout. It will be relived by the stories of two men who were on different sides of the dispute; Frederick Devere – secretary of the Kildare Farmers Union and Christy Supple, a farm worker from South Kildare. This talk; even though it will look at the dispute in South Kildare, the farm lockout touched every surrounding county and we expect a great turn out from our neighbouring counties. Please come early to get your seat and there is plenty of parking in Teach Diarmada. A Q&A session will take place after the showing of the documentary.

Also, don’t forget you still can get your copy of Tales from Our Town from Teach Diarmada for just €10, a great gift for family and friends.
