Description
Newbridge Local History Group is the local history group for the town of Newbridge, which by Kildare standards is a relatively new town. Newbridge developed adjacent to the military barracks build in the early 19th century close to the bridge over the river Liffey along the main nation route to the south west. The modern town sits between the river Liffey and the Curragh plains. Newbridge incorporates a number of townlands with some important medieval ecclesiastical sites close by.
Newbridge Local History Group was founded in the 1980s to foster an interest in the history of the town and surrounding areas. The group is interested in preserving the photographic, written and oral heritage of Newbridge and making these resources easily accessible to all. We are interested in all aspects of the history of our town and its people.
Visit the Newbridge Local History Group section on this website for more information.
