The County Kildare Archaeological Society, in partnership with Kildare County Council and with the support of Creative Ireland, are organising a one day seminar on the heritage of the Curragh to be held in the Keadeen Hotel, Newbridge, on Saturday 16th November, 2019
Speakers:
Dr John Feehan, Guy Williams, Lt. Col. Des Healy, Jim Kavanagh, John McCullen, Noel Dunne, James Durney, and Mario Corrigan.
This diverse panel of speakers will be outlining the importance of this unique landscape and presenting talks on various aspects of the Curragh including its geology, archaeology, placenames, military heritage, racing heritage, as well as tackling questions surrounding how best to manage this invaluable landscape’s ecology and public amenity.

As part of the event a number of launches will be taking place.
The Journal of the County Kildare Archæological Society – Online Archive
Throughout its long history the JKAS has remained an invaluable resource for anyone interested the history and archaeology of Co. Kildare. It is therefore of great significance, and in keeping with the positive emphasis in recent years on open and accessible data, that the complete archive of the society’s journal dating back to 1891 will be made freely available online through this new digital archive following its launch at the seminar.
The Story of the Curragh & Cuirrech Life – The Curragh of Kildare
Two other launches will take place at the seminar. Abarta audio-guides will launch their latest guide The Story of the Curragh at the seminar, and one of the guest speakers, Dr John Feehan, will also launch the second edition of his book, Cuirrech Life – The Curragh of Kildare.
