The Decade of Commemorations Creative & Artistic Bursary Award 2022 (up to €7,500)
The Kildare County Council Decade of Commemorations Committee invites grant applications for projects and activities that relate to the period 1912-23. It is particularly interested in applications that focus on events that took place in 1922 and 1923 and maximise community engagement. Applications are welcome from both individuals and organisations.
This grant scheme is supported by the County Kildare Decade of Commemorations Committee and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media under the Decade of Centenaries Initiative 2012-23.
Since 2013 the programme has included commemorative events, publications, lectures, the Irish Military Seminar, gardens, digital and social media content, and partnerships with schools and community organisations.
Among the key centenary events that will be marked by the Committee during 2022 are:
- Centenary of the Civic Guard Mutiny and the arrival of An Garda Síóchána
- Withdrawal of the British Army and the handover of the military barracks at the Curragh, Kildare Town, Naas and Newbridge to the I.R.A
- Outbreak of the Civil War
