Lackagh Graveyard re-dedication

On Wednesday 11th June a very special event will take place at Lackagh Graveyard following the annual cemetery mass which takes place at 7.30pm and celebrated by the Bishop of Kildare & Leighlin, Bishop Denis Nulty.

At approximately 8.15pm Bishop Nulty, together with his excellency Ambassador Cleviston Haynes, will re-dedicate the church wall plaque which commemorates the deportation to Barbados in 1655 of a group of local people, many of whom descendants still reside in the area.

Ambassador Haynes is the first resident Ambassador from Barbados posted to Ireland and he will make some remarks at the event.

On behalf of the organising committee (named below) you are invited to attend along with other family or group representatives.

We would really appreciate if you can make it on the evening and refreshments will be served (weather permitting).

Organising Committee: Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, Ann Talbot, Fr Liam Merrigan, Ned Fitzpatrick & Seán O Fearghail T.D.

With the valued assistance of Councillors Noel Connolly & Suzanne Doyle.
