Heritage week is fast approaching. This year, Heritage Week is from 19th – 27th August 2017.
National and local community organisations participate by organising events throughout the country, to preserve and promote our natural, built and cultural heritage. In Co. Kildare many of the local history groups also participate by organising talks and walks throughout the county. It is important that the groups register their events so that they are included in the various promotion material.
If you are organising an event you should upload its details to the National Heritage Week website: http://www.heritageweek.ie/register-an-event/organise-an-event to have your event included on their website.
Kildare County Council will be producing a brochure for Heritage Week 2017 to promote events in County Kildare. These events are compiled form the National Heritage Week website site, so you are encouraged to upload your event details to the National Heritage Week website (link above) before June 30th to be included in the printed brochure. If you have any difficultly please send of your event to the county heritage officer at firstname.lastname@example.org to ensure it is included.
This website also includes events organised by member groups of the Co. Kildare Federation of Local History Groups in the Local History Diary section of the site. Already there are numerous events listed by member groups and if other events are added to the National Heritage Week website, they will be included. Other heritage related events organised in Co. Kildare by non-member organisations will be highlighted in the news section at a later date.
The closing date for inclusion in the County Kildare Heritage Week Event Guide is 30th June 2017 but please send your details well in advance.
