Associated with ideas of rebirth and renewal, sanctuary and refuge, and a wisdom which rejects violence, Brigid’s story stretches back to pre-Christian Ireland.
During this free event the speakers/performers aim to recover the complexities of Brigid’s history, to place her in a wider European context, and to examine her place in Irish tradition and folklore. There will also be an opportunity to learn about the successful campaign to have a new public holiday on Brigid’s Day – February 1st. and the first holiday to celebrate a woman.
Join artist Monica de Bath and Laura Murphy Communications Strategist and Poet in Residence at Herstory and creator of ‘Is Mise Bríd.’
